What is Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy?
A Unique Invitation for Self Discovery
ENLIVEN draws on over fifteen years of experience with a variety of modalities to offer each client a tailored experience in embodied mindfulness. At the heart of this work is Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. This unique process facilitates accessing your inner world through present moment awareness of your breath, body, emotions, and thoughts. Through assisted postures and reflective dialogue, you are invited to turn inward and meet yourself, however you show up in the moment. This works honors the wisdom inherent in your body and offers you tools to assist you in accessing this vast trove of guidance. This client-centered form of bodywork offers a safe, non-judgemental process that facilitates the exploration of the relationship between what's happening in your body and what's happening in your life.
Infinite Healing Potential... But No Guarantees
An important distinction between Phoenix Rising and many other therapeutic approaches is that this work truly honors each individual to be their own best healer. While the practitioner facilitates the container for the experience, the client is always leading their own process. The client is supported in discerning what he/she is ready to explore and how deep to go with it. This work offers the client the potential for deep personal transformation as layers of held tension are explored, released, and integrated. Clients often discover that patterns of habitual physical and emotional tension are linked to ways of thinking and being in their life. Other benefits may include: deep relaxation, greater mental clarity, relief of muscle and joint tightness, improved stress management, enhanced self-esteem and a fresh perspective on themselves. For some, it may simply be time to relax and receive a dose of yoga-based stretching. For others, it ignites a process of self-discovery that completely changes their lives.
A Typical Session
Although this modality is steeped in the ancient traditions of yoga, no yoga experience is required. In fact, this work is available to anyone that is willing to embark on a journey inward, regardless of body size, shape, mobility, age, etc.. Most sessions take place on a mat on the floor, although accommodations can be made for those needing to be in chairs, hospital beds, etc.. The session begins with some form of movement or guided meditation to help the client settle into their body. From this embodied awareness, an intention is generated, empowering the client to begin guiding their experience. Then, through a variety of supported movements and simple dialogue techniques, clients are invited to explore areas of holding in their body. The session is wrapped up with an integration that allows the client to reflect on their experience and apply the wisdom gained to their daily lives.
